PUBLIC NOTICE: INTENT TO DESTROY SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS
In accordance with state and federal regulations implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and local record retention policies, Scranton School District announces its intention to destroy inactive special education records.
Scope of Records Scheduled for Destruction
Special education evaluation reports, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Notices of Action, and related due process files for students who:
Graduated, aged out, transferred, or were dismissed from special education services during or prior to the 2019-2020 school year.
Were evaluated and found ineligible for special education services during or prior to the 2019-2020 school year.
Deadline and Contact Information
To claim or request a copy of these records before they are destroyed on November 2, 2026.
