It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of one of very own, Mrs. Lisa Martin. Mrs. Martin began working at Scranton High School in 1999 as an English teacher. Throughout her 21 years at Scranton, she also taught social studies, journalism, and was a dyslexia specialist. Anyone that knew Mrs. Martin can attest that she was a hard worker and had the kindest soul. She will be greatly missed and forever hold a special place in the hearts of our Scranton Rocket family. Our condolences go out to her family, friends, colleagues, and students. We will post arrangements when they have been made.

Next week is Spring Break, take a break from school work! AMI days will resume on Monday, March 30 with AMI Day 5 Packet. You have enough AMI packets to complete through Monday, April 6. More information regarding additional AMI Packets will be sent out at a later date. Prom has been rescheduled for June 4. All banquets and other extra activities have been canceled until further notice. Graduation date is still scheduled for May 3 @ 2 p.m. Beginning on Monday, March 30, we will provide lunch to students via bus routes. Buses will leave the cafeteria at 11 a.m., Monday-Friday for the three weeks after Spring Break. Students who want a free lunch need to watch for the bus to come by their stop and meet the bus at the end of their drive to get their food. Routes will be run like they are after school. Example: Buses leave here at 3:15 each afternoon. If your child arrives home around 3:30, then lunch will be at your house around 11:15 (15 minutes after they leave cafeteria). A menu will be posted next week. Again, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we tread through this uncharted territory together.

The Little Rock Office of the FBI issued a release describing a possible threat, generic in nature, to schools in Arkansas for Thursday August 29, 2019. They have not confirmed the source or verified the threat. Scranton School District has not been made aware of any specific threat against our school or community. As a part of our security procedures, the information we have been given has been processed through research based threat assessment procedure and at this time is classified as the lowest risk possible. We will continue to practice sound security procedures on a daily basis to make sure our students and staff are protected. We will use heightened security measures due to this threat. We will also continue to communicate with local, state, and federal authorities, as needed, during the upcoming week. Your child’s safety is of the upmost importance to us. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students and staff, not only this week, but in the weeks, months, and years to come. As always, The administrators of Scranton are available to discuss any school matters with you by email or phone. Please call any building or the district office.
